Kansas Chapter,
American Academy of Pediatrics
Gardner Design, 2024 The Kansas Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (KAAP) is a professional community of pediatricians dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of children and families across Kansas. Through education, advocacy, networking, and service, KAAP has become the leading resource for children’s health in the state. Pediatricians and healthcare professionals rely on the organization for leadership, guidance, and training on the issues impacting kids today.
At Gardner Design, I led the rebranding of KAAP and its affiliated programs, helping to unify and strengthen the organization’s visual identity.

The redesigned logomark for KAAP features a medical cross subtly revealed in the center negative space, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to health and wellness. The icon is constructed from four folded, interlocking links that symbolize the essential connection between doctors, patients, families, and resources—elements that, together, form the foundation of a strong pediatric care network. Each link plays a vital role in childhood well-being; remove one, and the structure—and the broader picture of health—begins to break down.
The folded nature of each link serves as a visual metaphor for resilience and support. Much like a single sheet of paper that gains strength through folding, the bonds KAAP fosters grow stronger through collaboration and reinforcement. This concept speaks not only to the children who rely on that support to thrive, but also to the pediatric professionals who depend on community, training, and resources to deliver the highest standard of care.
The Kansas Pediatric Foundation is the charitable arm of KAAP, dedicated to empowering pediatricians and advancing child health across our state. The Foundation is dedicated to promoting child literacy, health, and well-being across Kansas by supporting the Kansas Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and spearheading special initiatives.
The Turn a Page. Touch a Mind.® program emphasizes the critical role of reading to children and highlights the powerful influence healthcare providers have in encouraging families to establish consistent daily reading habits at home. This program supplies age-appropriate books for distribution to your patients and families to encourage sharing stories in the first five years of life.
The CARE (Child Abuse Review and Evaluation) Network exists to train, support, and empower physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to identify and address child abuse and neglect across Kansas.
